Unique Mantel Clock in Elaborate Exotic Wood Case, Late 19th Century
A unique clock housed in an openwork, intricately carved wooden case made of exotic wood. The entire piece is integrated with a wooden base supported by brass feet and topped with a finial made of ivory. The clock mechanism features a cylinder escapement and strikes on the hour and half-hour. The backplate of the movement cover bears the mark of the French workshop Costeux, located in Paris on Rue Saint-Dominique.
The condition of the case is excellent, and the mechanism is fully functional following a watchmaker's inspection. The only missing element is the rear cover that conceals the clock’s interior.
