We present to you an antique Victorian brooch with a cameo, dated to the early 20th century, made of 14-karat gold (585 hallmark). The brooch is crafted using the cameo technique, a method of carving into materials such as stone, shell, or glass, where a raised, typically portrait or decorative image appears on a contrasting background. Cameos were popular in jewelry, especially in ancient times and during the Victorian era. Our brooch originates from the Victorian period and depicts a portrait of a woman. The medallion of the brooch is made of 14-karat gold (585 hallmark); please note that the pin is metal. A monogram can be seen on the back when held up to the light (see photograph).

There are visible signs of repair on the back of the brooch. The brooch shows signs of use.
