Pre-War Figural Double Inkwell with Eagle in Silver-Tone Metal
A decorative antique desk inkwell featuring a sculptural eagle, crafted in silver-tone metal.
The composition is centered by an impressive three-dimensional figure of an eagle with its wings fully outstretched, perched upon a stylized rocky base. The carefully modeled feathers, wings and body give the piece a strong sculptural presence and make the eagle the focal point of the design.
Positioned symmetrically on either side of the eagle are two covered ink reservoirs, each fitted with an ornamental domed lid. The entire composition is mounted on an elaborate shaped base with a raised, profiled border and supported by four decorative feet.
The surface of the base is enriched with relief decoration, beaded borders and ornamental foliate motifs, creating an attractive combination of sculptural and decorative elements characteristic of traditional desk accessories.
The silver-tone surface displays a natural patina and variations in color and finish, particularly around the raised decoration and sculptural details, enhancing the antique character and visual depth of the piece.
With its striking eagle motif and substantial proportions, this inkwell makes an impressive decorative desk or study accessory. It would display particularly well on a writing desk, library table, secretary desk or console and would complement traditional, eclectic and modern-classic interiors.

Condition
Good antique condition, consistent with age and use.
The metal surfaces show natural patination, areas of oxidation and discoloration, minor scratches and general signs of previous use. Variations in the surface finish are visible, particularly on the eagle and the base, and are consistent with the age and character of the piece.
