George III Era Longcase Clock – 18th Century
Longcase/floor clock in a mahogany case, dated to the first half of the 18th century. The clock’s door and hood are framed with columns. The hood is topped with a broken, scroll-shaped pediment and openwork decorative elements. The dial plate is arched, featuring a metal ring-shaped chapter ring with hour markings and a moon phase dial beneath the arch. The clock strikes the full hours and half-hours.
Inside the mechanism, there is a hand-engraved signature and a note indicating a restoration carried out in 1924.
The case has been restored and finished with French polish. The mechanism is in working order following a horological inspection, and the weights are new.
