The set is signed by C.T. - the signature indicates that the set was manufactured in Carl Tielsch (Altwasser) manufactory. Altwasser is the old name for Stary Zrój, a city near Wałbrzych.
The signature was being used from 1875 to circa 1935.
Historical overview:
In 1845, a commercial counselor, Carl Tielsch, founded in Stary Zdrój (Altwasser), near Wałbrzych, the second biggest porcelain factory in Silesia. Thanks to financial outlays of Carl Tielsch, the manufactory was provided with an excellent start and rapid growth. In 1864, it already had 1400 employees.
Products of the Tielsch’s factory quickly gained reputation for their high quality and artistic value. They were appreciated at many exhibitions. They had rich ornamentations and striking patterns. Moreover, their quality was compared to the products of manufacturers from Berlin, or even Meissen.
