Sheraton Armchair
We present you this armchair of a delicate form, with an upholstery in the shade of gold. The item is made of satin wood -- commonly used in manufacturing furniture in this style. Some elements of the backrest are intarsiated with other types of wood.
Presented article of furniture is in very good condition.
The Sheraton style -- directly associated with an English ebéniste, Thomas Sheraton. The new direction popularized by him is aimed at reducing the pomp and size of the forms. Its blooming period took place in England, in the 2nd half of the 18th century. The furniture designed by Sheraton can be described in a very clear manner -- by using the word “simplicity”. The subtlety of the decorations and the compact design are tasteful. Legs of the furniture are narrowing downwards, and sometimes are fluted. The material used for manufacturing the Sheraton furniture is exotic mahogany wood, intertwined with light lammellae, or rosewood. In addition to the materials mentioned above, highly weather-resistant satin wood was used very often. The surfaces were finished with different ornamental techniques, such as intarsias, reliefs, or veneering.
