Ladies Desk with an Add-On Unit

A desk circa 1910, which is indicated by the date written with pencil in the inside of a drawer.

Presented piece of furniture is two-piece, of a lightweight design, and is placed on bent, high

legs. Also, there is a drawer under the marble top.

The upper section is in the form of a removable add-on unit that is covered with a marble board.

The unit’s type and shape match the ones of the top.

The add-on unit has a niche in its central part, and two rows of small drawers

 on its left and right sides.

The drawers’ fronts, the sides of the desk and the add-on unit are ornamented with intarsias.

The brass handles of the drawers and the brass appliqués on the desk’s legs

form a striking complementation of the whole.

This piece of furniture is in good condition. However, there are deflects in some places of the veneer,

and the marble board of the add-on unit is cracked in two places.
