Judaica – Silver Mezuzah
We present you this mezuzah in the shape of an oblong cylinder finished on two sides with a cone.
The whole is made of silver.
Weight of the silver: 113.410 grams.
Presented item is in very good condition – silver covered in patina.
Mezuzah – the name derives from the Hebrew word which in the Bible generally means a door-frame or a nib. In practice, it is a small, oblong container, usually made of metal, wood or glass, that contains a rolled-up parchment (klaf), on which two fragments from the Torah are hand-written – both from the Book of Deuteronomy (6:4-9 i 11:13-21).
Mezuzah is placed by the orthodox Jews diagonally on the right side of the door-frame, at 2/3 of the height. When pious Jews come into or out of the house, they touch the mezuzah and say a prayer: “May God protect me when going out and coming in here forever.”
