Historic Sofa in the Empire Type
This piece of furniture is circa the 2nd half of the 19th century.
Its form refers to the Empire style.
Presented sofa has a wavily shaped backrest and rails that are rolled outwards,
with the motif of a fluted roll in the top section of the backrest.
The legs of the couch are arch-like bent outwards.
This sofa is in very good condition, has not undergone renovation.
The upholstery is secondary.
Historical overview: Presented piece of furniture had been owned by a Russian consul staying in India. Then, it came to Copenhagen where it was put up for sale at an action house. The sofa was acquired by a private collector, who really cared for it. Several years after his death, the piece was auctioned again.
