Elegant Chiffonier, Circa 1880

Biedermeier chic and class, and the beauty of mahogany veneer -- these are the features that characterize the dresser presented below. The furniture is circa 1880, and was manufactured in Scandinavia.

This dresser has a stepped top section with elliptical frame, which create the so-called “Copenhagen head”.

Below the top section, there is a row of seven drawers. The topmost and the two bottommost drawers differ from the rest. Every single drawer can be locked with a key, and has golden and elegant fittings. The narrowest drawer makes for the top section, and is the narrowest of the drawers at the same time. The middle ones are wider, and the two bottommost are the deepest, which makes them ideal for storing bigger items.

The whole is situated on four stable legs. The two rear are in the form of rectangular plinths, whereas the front ones are more decorative, in the scroll shape.

Presented chiffonier astonishes with the precision of craftsmanship, and the nobility of veneered wood.

This piece of furniture, as for its age, is in very good condition. Only slight traces of careful use are visible.
