Brittany Dining Room Suite, Circa 1890

Presented suite includes a cupboard, a table, and six chairs.

The furniture, circa 1890, is made in oaken wood, and was manufactured in Brittany,

a region in north-west France.

 The cupboard is composed of a three-door base, and a two-door setting.

The base is placed on a slightly advanced plinth.

Furthermore, the setting is supported from the front on full-dimensional figures of a woman

and a man in rural costumes. The rear wall is decorated with

a relief; it is varied by a gallery.

The upper section is crowned with a crest with a steering wheel in the central part.

The door leaves, along with the drawers’ fronts and the top edging, are richly ornamented.

The sides of the cupboard are adorned with a relief decoration with

vegetative motifs.

The lower and upper door panels are filled with semi-plastic

depictions of rural life. In the corners, there are openwork fragments

that are made of a steering wheel.

To continue, the inside of this cupboard hides three shelves: one at the bottom, and two in the upper section.

On the inside of the doors, there are curtains that cover clearances

 in the door panels.

The table is in the form of a square on four turned legs, connected

with a cross bar with a full-dimensional decoration with a repeated motif

 of steering wheel.

The top edging and the apron are entirely covered with woodcarving.

The table can be extended. Under the table top, there are additional legs

that can support the extendable parts.

Furthermore, the chairs have upholstered seats and openwork backrests with slats

covered on one side with a woodcarving, into which the motif of steering wheel,

the same as on the table, has been integrated.

 To continue, the side frames and the front legs are in the shape of balusters.

Table: Height: 75 cm; Width: 110 x 113 cm; After extending: 110 x 250 cm.

Chairs: Height: 102.5 cm; Width: 44 cm; Depth: 39 cm; Seat height: 47 cm.

Presented articles of furniture are in good condition. There are some dents on the table top.

Also, there are no removable parts of the table top that are necessary to extend it.

The cupboard and the table with chairs are also available separately.
