Antique Biedermeier Secretary Desk/Chiffonier

We present you this piece of furniture, circa 1837, in pyramidal mahogany veneer.

 The whole is signed with the mark of the Copenhagen Carpenters Guild.

The shape of this item is similar to a chiffonier with seven drawers.

One of the drawers has a drop-down front forming the panel.

 The inside is arranged like a secretary desk with small

  drawers on both sides and a shelf in the central section.

That is why it is so hard to classify this article of furniture unambiguously.

The corpus, with a drawer, of this secretary desk/chiffonier is composed of a pedestal that advances beyond the surface

 and an apron with six drawers placed on top of it.

The base finishes with a protuberant, profiled cornice.

 The top section ends with a square, geometrical crest.

Furthermore, the drawers above the pedestal are flanked by pilasters

 that support the top-most, the biggest drawer with a convex front.

Given the age of this piece of furniture, it is in very good condition.

There are some loses of the veneer on the edges, and abrasions

on the French polish.

Presented secretary desk/chiffonier has not undergone a renovation.
