17th-Century Copperplate Engraving, “Battle of Sandomierz, March 24 1656”
We present you this copperplate engraving by Erik Dahlbergh (1625-1703) with a depiction of armed
fight in Sandomierz on March 24 1656, during
the Deluge.
In the upper corners of the graphic, there are two identical cartouches topped with the coat of arms of Sweden.
The title is on the left side, whereas on the right are the explanations of the letter designations
from the drawing.
Furthermore, the drawing appeared in various works by Samuel Pufendorf, published
in Nuremberg in the years 1696-1729.
The above print is from 1697.
